It seems to be my turn.
Im Helen, the more behind the scenes side of SD. While Chris deals with most of the emails and bands i tend to put together most of the orders, i handle most of the phone calls, and i have the all important tast of creating and maintaining the SD website. I do alot online actually.. you can find me on quite a few music forums always promoting SD! the website is a constant job for me.. im not a professional and ive never had any website training so what you see at SD.co.uk is always a work in progress that will conitue to improve.
I also earn all the money. Although we both have student loans and overdrafts its never enough, so i work weekends at John Lewis in Nottingham.. its a good job, they're a great company. I do odd bits of work in labs over the summer too.. anything to help pay for the next big release.
Lab work.. yes, im a plant science student on the side. Aswell as SD and my job ive got to fit in 20-hours of lectures a week and a 12,000 word research project. Its like having 3 seperate lives... comes in handy when one (usually SD) is stressing me out!
This blog was my idea... i thought it might be interesting for a few people to find out what goes on behind the scenes of a label like SD. Hopefully it'll make people realise that working in the music industry is not glamorous and not at all easy!!
